Suzuki Industry Co., Ltd.
Suzuki Kogyo Co., Ltd., which operates three locations in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture, is a manufacturer that designs and produces press dies for automobiles in the 1,000t to 3,000t class. The company works on products for a variety of automobile manufacturers and will soon be celebrating 60 years since its founding. We spoke to Executive Officer Shuichi Suzuki about the background to the introduction of their products and how they are used. Currently, C-Set is presenting commemorative gifts to express our gratitude to customers who have been using our products for many years, and is also conducting interviews with them to learn about the circumstances surrounding their introduction and how they are being used. For the first visit, we visited Suzuki Kogyo Co., Ltd.

Please tell us about your company's features.
Recently, we've been focusing on the speed of mold production, and we're confident in that. We do all of our machining in-house, and we're extremely committed to minimizing machine downtime. When it comes to one-of-a-kind items like molds, there are many situations where it depends on the experience of the individual. Furthermore, in an environment where overseas personnel also work on-site, our goal is not to rely on individuals, but to create molds that are of the same quality regardless of who makes them. To that end, we're focusing on making our work visible. Since around 2000, we've been creating our own in-house production management system, allowing us to share information such as processing progress, parts and material orders, delivery dates, and machine utilization rates. According to what I've heard, Mr. Suzuki himself developed the system, which includes all the functions the company needs. In fact, during my interviews, I was able to monitor which machines were operating on which tasks, and the next processing steps, all throughout the company.

How did you find out about our products?
We learned about it through an introduction from an agency and first installed one. Later, when our business partners started using JT Data to make arrangements, we added a JT(R) interface and then installed another one.

Shuichi Suzuki Executive Officer
How do you use 3DTascalX?
It is mainly used by sales staff and the president for quotation work. They first check the 3D data provided by business partners, then register it in the production management system, compare the old and new data, and conduct initial process studies.
I have also tried viewers from other CAD manufacturers, but they only limit the CAD functions, so there are many menus and they are difficult to use. On the other hand, I have the impression that 3DTascalX has just the right menu and functions as a viewer.

Recent industry trends
About 10 years ago, automobile manufacturers began using high-tensile steel, and press die manufacturers faced the challenge of molding harder materials under limited conditions. Even if they were able to adapt to this once, materials continue to evolve every day, and the material properties of manufacturing rods and the like change subtly, so it's truly a daily battle with materials (lol).
